Frequently Asked Questions
Why will you not generate LocalBusiness review markup?
Because Google says reviews about the entity that controls the page are self-serving and not eligible for rich results, and names LocalBusiness and Organization when it says it. Generators that emit it anyway are not being more helpful than this one — they are handing you markup that cannot earn a star and can earn a penalty.
Will stars show once the markup is valid?
No. Valid structured data makes a page eligible for a rich result; it does not entitle it to one. Google decides per query and per page, it takes weeks to reflect a change, and it withdraws rich results from pages that had them. Anyone promising stars is selling something.
Can I mark up reviews I imported from Google?
Not as your own page’s ratings, no — they are Google’s content shown on your page. They stay perfectly good proof for a human reader, which is most of their value. Reviews left through a form on your own site are the ones you can mark up.
Is anything I type here stored?
No. The generator runs in your browser and there is no server behind it to send anything to. Like every page on this site we count the visit itself, so we know the page was opened; we never see what you typed into it.
