Asking past customers for a review by email

Handing out a link works when the customer is standing in front of you. For everyone who already came and went, Kudo can email them a review link instead.

This is a Pro feature. On Free the link and the QR code stay the way you collect.

Sending a batch

Paste or upload the addresses, and Kudo queues one message per person carrying your business name and your review link. You get a result per address rather than one total, so an address that was refused says which one and why.

Three kinds are skipped before anything is sent: anyone who has unsubscribed from your requests, anyone you asked in the last 90 days, and anything that is not a working address. None of those counts as an error — they are the reasons a queue of five hundred sends four hundred and sixty.

Asking your Wix store's recent customers

If your store is on Wix and review requests are switched on, Kudo asks each new customer after their order. It can also ask the customers who bought before you installed Kudo. Open Kudo in your Wix dashboard, and under "Ask for new ones" you will see Ask your last 90 days of customers.

It shows you a count first and sends nothing: how many orders your store had in the last 90 days, how many of those customers agreed to marketing email in Wix, and why the others will not be asked. Nothing goes out until you press the button under that count.

Who is asked:

The emails are spread out: at most 50 go out a day, so 120 customers are asked over three days. A very recent order still waits for your delay setting, the same as a new order would.

This is part of review requests, so it needs the Pro plan and review requests switched on. On the Free plan the button is replaced by a note with a link to upgrade on Wix.

Why Kudo asks you to confirm consent

Before a batch goes out you have to state that these people agreed to hear from you. That is not a legal formality bolted on: Kudo sends from one domain on behalf of every business using it, so one bought list damages delivery for every other merchant, including the ones who did nothing wrong.

So: your own customers, who gave you their address in the course of doing business with you. Not a list you bought, not addresses scraped from anywhere, and not a competitor's customers. A batch that gets marked as spam costs everyone on the platform, and it is the one thing here that cannot be undone by turning a setting off.

Unsubscribing

Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and it works on the first click rather than opening a preference centre. Somebody who unsubscribes is added to a list for your page only — a customer silencing one business has said nothing about another — and any request of yours still queued for them is cancelled rather than left to send later.

That list is kept indefinitely. Every other record here is deleted on a schedule; an instruction not to be emailed is not.

Timing

If your requests come from store orders rather than a list you paste, Kudo waits a set number of days after delivery before asking — one day by default, and you can change it. Asking the day the order is placed reaches somebody who has not received anything yet, which is the most reliable way to get no reply.

The delay setting is not plan-gated. Sending at a sensible time is the difference between a useful email and an annoying one, not a paid extra.

What Kudo does not do

It does not supply addresses. There is no list to buy here and no suggestion of one.

It does not send to Google on your behalf. The link in the email opens your Kudo review form. A review left through it lives on your Kudo page — Google does not permit any tool to write into a Business Profile for a customer.

It does not chase indefinitely. A customer is asked, at most one reminder follows if they did not answer, and that is the end of it. Nobody who already reviewed you is reminded.

It does not send anything you have not started. There is no background campaign running on your account.

Frequently asked questions

Which plan includes this?
Pro and AI Pro. The Free plan has the review link, the QR code and the collection form, with no limit on how many reviews you collect through them.

Can I email a list I bought or found?
No, and the consent confirmation is where Kudo asks you to say so. Every business here sends from the same domain, so one bad list is everyone's deliverability.

How often can one customer be asked?
Once every 90 days at most, counted per page. That is checked when the batch is claimed rather than when you paste the list.

What if somebody unsubscribes?
They are removed from your requests immediately, anything already queued for them is cancelled, and they stay removed. It applies to your page only, not to every business on Kudo.

When should I send?
After the customer has actually received what they bought — one day after delivery is the default for orders. For a service, the day after it was done.

Can Kudo ask my Wix store's past customers for a review?
Yes, the last 90 days of them, on the Pro plan. Open Kudo in your Wix dashboard and use Ask your last 90 days of customers. Only customers who agreed to marketing email in Wix are asked, once each, at most 50 a day.

Still stuck? Write to support@getkudo.co before sending a large batch and we will look at the list with you.
