Moving reviews from another review app

Your reviews are yours, and every review app worth using exports them. Moving to Kudo is a file upload rather than a retyping exercise.

Import is on every plan, including Free. On Pro and AI Pro there is no limit on how many reviews you bring. On Free a file brings in as many as your 5 published places have room for, and Kudo tells you how many were held back.

The platforms Kudo reads

Upload the export and Kudo recognises the shape of the file. It reads exports from Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox, Trustpilot, Shopify Product Reviews, Stamped, Okendo and Bazaarvoice, plus your own seller exports from Amazon and AliExpress, and its own blank template if you are starting from a spreadsheet.

You do not have to say which one it is. The columns are matched by what the file contains, so a Judge.me export and a Stamped export both go in without renaming anything.

What survives the move

The review title. Almost every platform exports one and most importers drop it, which quietly shortens every review you moved.

The date. Reviews keep the date they were originally left, so a wall built from five years of history reads as five years of history rather than as fifty reviews written this afternoon.

The product each review is about. Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox and most other exports say which product a review belongs to, and Kudo reads the product ID and name into the review. That is what puts a moved review back under its product on your store. It matches by your store's own product ID, so an export from the same store lines up and an export from a different shop does not.

Some exports name the product only by its handle, the last part of the product's web address (blue-mug in /products/blue-mug). Loox and Shopify Product Reviews often do. Kudo looks that handle up among your products on Kudo, the ones your Shopify catalogue fills in, and files the review under the product it finds. A product web address works the same way. When neither an ID nor a handle matches, Kudo tries the product name, but only when exactly one of your products has that name.

Before you import, the summary says how many reviews matched a product by ID, by handle and by name, and how many have no product. Reviews with no product still import and show on your page as reviews of your shop. If some name a product that is not among your products on Kudo, add that product first and then import, and those reviews will land under it.

The verified-buyer mark. If the export says a review came from a confirmed order, Kudo keeps that rather than resetting everyone to unverified.

The rating scale. A file scored out of 10 or out of 100 is converted rather than refused, so a five-star review does not arrive as a one-star one.

What does not come across

Photos and video. Most exports contain links to images hosted by the old app, and those links stop working when you close the account — so an import that kept them would build a page that breaks later. Photos collected through your Kudo form are stored by Kudo and are not affected.

Replies you wrote in the old app. They export inconsistently or not at all. Reviews worth answering can be answered again on your Kudo page, and the reply box is on every plan.

Anything the file does not contain. If the export has no dates, nothing can invent them.

Doing it without a gap

There is no reason to switch in one evening. Nothing stops you running both for a few weeks: import the history into Kudo, point your new review link and QR code at Kudo, and leave the old app in place until you are satisfied. Kudo does not need exclusive access to anything, and it does not write to your old app or close anything down.

When you do stop paying for the old one, export first. An account that has lapsed is the one state where the file is genuinely hard to get.

After the import

Imported reviews arrive published — they were already public somewhere else, so holding them for approval would be pretending to a decision you never made. Anything you would rather not show can be hidden individually afterwards.

Each review shows where it came from unless you switch the source label off. Leaving it on is usually the better choice: a wall that names its sources reads as a record rather than a selection.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms are supported?
Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox, Trustpilot, Shopify Product Reviews, Stamped, Okendo, Bazaarvoice, plus Amazon and AliExpress seller exports and Kudo's own template.

Is importing a paid feature?
No. CSV import and Google import are both on the Free plan. The Free plan publishes 5 reviews, so a large file brings in as many as those 5 places have room for and says how many were held back; Pro and AI Pro import the whole file.

My old app is not on the list.
Upload the file anyway — the columns are matched by content, not by app name, and most exports carry the same handful of fields. If it does not go in, send the file to support@getkudo.co and we will look at it.

Will the imported reviews keep their original dates?
Yes, when the export contains them. Nothing invents a date that is not in the file.

What happens to photos from the old app?
They do not come across. Those images live on the old app's servers and stop loading when that account closes, so importing the links would build a page that breaks later.

Still stuck? Write to support@getkudo.co and attach the export file.
