Questions from visitors, and answering them
A visitor who is nearly ready to buy usually has one question left, and the business that answers it gets the sale. Kudo lets them ask it on your page, and the answers stay there for the next person with the same question.
Questions are answered on the Questions screen in your dashboard.
Answering is publishing
There is no separate approve step, and there should not be one. A question is shown publicly only once it carries an answer — so an unanswered question is invisible, and the queue is yours alone.
The reason is the failure mode of the alternative: an unanswered question sitting on a product page advertises that nobody replied. That is worse for the sale than no question section at all.
Ignoring one is therefore a complete action. It stays in your queue, it does not appear anywhere, and nobody is told that you read it.
What a question is not
A question is not a review. It carries no rating, it does not reach your average, it does not go into your star ratings anywhere, and it is not part of any feed. Somebody asking whether you open on Sundays has not rated you.
That separation is deliberate rather than incidental — sharing one place for both would mean remembering to exclude questions from every rating calculation, and the first time somebody forgot, an average would be wrong.
Where they appear
On your Kudo page, questions sit above the reviews and are about the business as a whole. A wall has no products, so a question about a specific item would leave the visitor unable to see what was being asked about.
In the widget on your own site, questions can be shown per product on a product page — that is where a question about one item makes sense, and it is a setting on the embed rather than something switched on globally.
Answers are only served publicly on AI Pro. On Free and Pro the queue is still visible to you, and the screen says what happens next, but a visitor will not see an answer — which is also why the ask box is not offered on a page that could never display one.
What Kudo does with what was typed
The asker's email address, if they left one, is not published and is not shown to visitors.
What they wrote is never echoed back to them either. Nothing appears anywhere until you have written an answer, which is what makes it impossible for anyone to slip something onto your page through the ask box.
Questions carrying links are refused outright. A link in a question on this kind of form has never yet been anything but spam.
Frequently asked questions
Do questions show up before I answer?
No. An answer is what publishes a question. Until then only you can see it.
Can I delete a question?
You can leave it unanswered, which means nobody ever sees it, and you can hide one you have already answered.
Does a question affect my rating?
No. Questions carry no rating and never reach an average, a star display or a feed.
Which plan do I need?
The queue is on every plan. Answers are shown to visitors on AI Pro.
Is the person's email address public?
No. It is never displayed, and it is not shown alongside the question on your page.
Why is there no ask box on my page?
Either the form is switched off, or the page is on a plan where an answer would not be served — in which case a box inviting questions would be a promise the page cannot keep.
