A suite, or the two things you came for

This is not an argument that Yotpo is bad at reviews. It is an argument about how much else comes with them, and whether you are the size that makes that worth it.

What Yotpo is good at

Being one vendor for several things at once — reviews, loyalty, subscriptions, SMS — with the integrations and the syndication a large catalogue needs. For a brand big enough to be running all of those anyway, consolidating them is a real saving in contracts, in data plumbing and in the number of people you have to talk to.

Where it leaves you stuck

It is a suite, and a suite has a shape: onboarding, a plan conversation, and a surface area a two-person business will never open. If what you need is reviews on a page and a way to ask for them, most of what you are buying is the part you will not use — and none of it produces a link you can put in an Instagram bio.

When a suite is the right purchase

When you are already running loyalty, already sending marketing SMS, already syndicating reviews to retail partners, and the cost of five vendors talking to each other badly is higher than the cost of one that does all of it. That is a real position and it starts somewhere well above a shop with forty products.

What a small business actually opens

Two screens: the one where new reviews wait, and the one that gives them the link to hand out. Everything else in a reviews product is either configuration you touch once or a feature written for somebody with a merchandising team. A tool that is mostly screens you never open is not cheaper for being comprehensive.

The part neither of us can do for you

Asking. Every business with hundreds of reviews is one that asks every customer, every time, and no amount of software substitutes for that. What software decides is how easy the asking is: a link you can say out loud, a code on the counter, an email that goes out without you writing it. Both tools have those. Only one of them requires a conversation with a salesperson to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I move my Yotpo reviews over?

Yes, through their export. Kudo reads the Yotpo column shape along with nine other platforms, so the import is a file upload rather than a spreadsheet exercise, and the review titles and dates come with it.

Will I lose review stars in Google Shopping?

No. Kudo produces the Merchant Center review feed itself, from reviews attached to a product. Reviews about the business as a whole are excluded, because they describe no product and filing them against one is the misattribution that feed spec exists to prevent.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and it is a real one: the collection form, CSV and Google import, 5 published reviews, and the widget on four layouts plus the star rating badge beside a price, with a "Powered by Kudo" badge. Photo reviews, review requests after every order and removing the badge are Pro; video reviews are AI Pro.
