Photographs are the easy part to agree on
Both of us think a review with a picture beats three without one. The difference is what happens to the customers who never see a product page.
- Photo reviews on Pro, video reviews on AI Pro, with no cap on how many carry them
- Plus a page at getkudo.co/yourname the QR code on your counter opens
- Imports your existing Google reviews, which no Shopify-only app can
- Works on Wix and on a plain website too, not only Shopify
What Loox is good at
Getting photographs out of customers, which is the hardest part of collecting reviews and the part most apps treat as optional. The request emails, the upload flow and the galleries are all built around the picture rather than around the text, and it shows — a Loox wall looks like a shop full of customers rather than a page of quotes.
Where it leaves you stuck
It lives inside Shopify and its unit is a product. A business that also serves people at a counter has nothing to attach a review to, no page to put in a bio, and no QR code for the till. It also cannot bring in the Google reviews that business already has — which for anyone with a shopfront is most of the reviews they will ever own.
When Loox is the better choice
A Shopify store with no physical presence, where every review belongs to a product and the whole job is getting more photographs of those products in use. Loox has spent years on exactly that problem and is good at it. Moving away from a working photo programme to gain a page you were not going to share is not an upgrade.
The customer who never sees a product page
A bakery with an online shop also has a counter. A studio takes bookings by phone. A market stall has no website at all. Those customers are just as willing to photograph what they bought — they simply have nowhere to do it, because the only route in is a product page they never opened. A link and a QR code are what reach them, and a product-review app has neither.
What a photo review is worth on each
On both, it sits on the product page. On Kudo it also sits on the page you send people and in the widget on your own site. The same photograph, in three places instead of one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I import my Loox reviews?
The text, ratings, dates and verified-buyer marks come across from their CSV export. The photographs do not: those files live on their servers and stop loading when the account closes, so importing the links would build a page that breaks later.
Do photo reviews cost extra on Kudo?
Photo reviews are on Pro and video reviews on AI Pro. Neither caps how many reviews carry them, and a page that later drops a plan keeps every photograph it already has.
Does Kudo put stars on my Shopify product pages?
Yes — a theme app extension, the two standard rating metafields your theme already reads, and a snippet for stars on collection-page product cards.
